How long can the silver/copper electrodes last?
Generally, the electrodes last about 1 year but this also depends on pool usage, the setting on the Caribbean Clear unit and also how long that it is turned on each day.
Why CoPPER and SILVEr?
With copper, that takes care of the algae in the water. Algae that you usually see in normal pools tend to be green algae that if left untreated becomes black algae. Copper is able to treat black algae, though. As for silver, it is to take care of the bacteria in the water so that the water is safe to swim in.
Do I still need to use chlorine with Carribean Clear?
There are organic matter in the pool water from the hair and oils of swimmers. This causes the pool water to be dull. In order to get sparkling pool water, you still need to use a small amount of chlorine (5% – 10% of the usual amount) to “burn” off those organic matter.
Is there any warranty for the Caribbean Clear unit?
Yes, we offer a 10-year warranty for the Caribbean Clear unit that you purchase from us. The warranty does not cover the electrodes, which is understandable.
How Often Should I Backwash My Filter?
As a general rule, you should do backwashing of your your pool once a week or in conjunction with the maintenance schedule. Another industry standard is to do the backwashing when the pressure gauge of your filter shows 8 – 10 PSI over the starting level or “clean” pressure.
Why does my pool water have a green tint?
The first reason is that it could be caused by green algae. It could be due to the pool filter not working well or there is not enough chlorine used in a non-Caribbean Clear pool.
The second reason is that there is too much dissolved metal (usually copper) in the pool water. Dissolved metal is indicated by water that is unclouded, yet tinted green.
